Great laptop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 laptop and so far I have no issues with it. The laptop is what I have expected as I have seen the reviews from other people. Great overall sound, little noise when it is on battery but compared to the other laptops I have had it is nothing. I like everything about it so far no complains yet. I bought the Lenovo docker also and again no issues with the drivers and stuff I just plugged all external monitors, mic, external SSD on the docker and everything works.

One of the best laptops I have used

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first Thinkpad, and so far, I am satisfied with my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 8th gen. I got mine in November 2020 but waited sometime before I write my review. I am a researcher (in ecohydrology), and most of my tasks are writing (reports, papers, and proposals), running models, and performing statistical analysis in R and Python. I am also a Linux user. I have been using Dell since 2011, but I decided to buy a Thinkpad because they're famous for durability and the keyboard. After a lot of time reading reviews and watching YouTube videos, I decided to get the X1 carbon. Of course, I could get other Thinkpad most potent with the same money, but overall, this one seemed to be the best option for my daily uses. This is still a very powerful machine (Core i7 with 16 GB of ram). Things that I liked: - Amazing keyboard (the BEST I've used); Lightweight; - Good battery; - Different ports (USB-C, USB A, HDMI, headphone jack); - Camera cover (think shield); - Touchpad with bottoms on top; Things I did not like (but it's okay, for me, these are not the reason for not buying it): - The Skype dedicated keys (FN + F9-F12). They're not useful for Linux (and I bought mine with Linux Fedora!); - Position of Fn and Ctrl. You will get used to it, but when you switch computers, it's a bit annoying. Although I can change it on the BIOS can, but I do not like this "solution," I am rather to get used to it. - The keyboard backlit. In Linux, it is always on if you turn it on. Just turns off when the screen is off. I hope Lenovo releases an upgrade of the BIOS, allowing setup the time for the keyboard lights to turn off if no one is typing.

Great laptop for any size business

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This laptop was purchased for senior executives and management at a medical implant manufacturing facility. This laptop has been performing top notch without any issues and is able to keep up with the demand that the company puts it through. For a business aspect, this laptop has a long battery life, the build is quite sleek and is quite durable. It is able to stay clean with minimal fingerprints and it is very portable.
