Small Nylon hinges with a metal pin

I use these small nylon hinges on my park flyer size aircraft up to 3 lbs. I use a razor blade to cut a slot about 1 mm wide and 15mm deep on each side where the hinge will go. I mark where the mating side is on the opposite surface. I make sure with a dry fit that all 2 or 3 of the hinges on each surface mate up well before gluing. I use Foam-Tac glue. It gives me about 30 secs to work. Apply glue to the bottom half of the hinge that goes in first so it smears the glue across it as it goes in. Once you've applied glue, it's too late to stop so make sure all hinges and all parts fit well first. Once one side (ie. the wing side, but not the ailerons# is glued in, let it sit at least 5 mins to dry. Then I dry fit again into the control surface #aileron, elevator, rudder). If all fits well, apply glue to the bottom half of the hinge so the glue smears across its surface as it slides into the control surface slot I've made. Be EXTRA CAREFUL here. You have to mate all the hinges to the other side in this one move and be done in 30 secs. Get them aligned and started at the same time. Push them in slowly and get them all the way in. If any glue sticks to the metal pin, wait till it's dry and it will peel off easily.

Great Hinges

These are great hinges which are easy to install and have many uses. Foam hinges can break or tear, leading to a crash. Invest in these solid, and well made hinges--you'll receive great dividends in performance along with protecting your airplane. I hope the info is helpful :-)
