Handi-Foil 8" Aluminum Square Cake Pans with Lids, 3 Count

These Handi-Foil ECO-Foil Cook-n-Carry square cake pans come with a lid, which is much appreciated. I use these pans (the larger trays) a lot when I barbecue, potluck, etc... They are great because they are sturdy yet disposable. These pans are oven proof; they would be great for travel/camping because they are small (8x8) and don't take up a lot of room. I will take these with me next time I'm on an RV road trip. Here at home, I used the pans to make a boxed cake. Because they are shallow, I only filled it 2/3 of the way full (on a small fraction of the batter). The cake ended up mushrooming over the edge of the pan, but did not overflow. The plastic lids are great because they give you about another inch/inch and a half of height clearance, so you can frost the cake without smearing it. These 8x8 pans are okay for cake baking if you are feeding a small crew. I used up only maybe a third to a half of the cake batter, thereby producing a shallow, one layer cake. These pans are great for travel or transporting prepared food to a friend's house. The biggest draw back is the small size unless you are bringing food for a smaller get together. Also, the foil pan held up well to washing. I'm not sure how long the lid will last since it is plastic.
