I am glad I installed film. Hung for a few months. Some tips & thoughts: 1. I installed it alone on several windows & doors. Not real easy but doable. 2. It makes looking outside grayed (spring green vegetation looks grayed). It darkens the room a bit, not by very much. 3. Looking from outside in it looks reflective but not real noticeable/offensive. It does give full privacy when it is lighter outside than inside. At night it has NO privacy qualities. 4. Energy efficiency is unknown cuz I did several things to insulate at once. It seems to be better in winter (haven't gone through a summer yet). 5. The material does have visible streaks in it making film obvious on windows Installing tips: 1. Use very sharp razor blade knife. Cheap ones works well. 2. Use A LOT of soap/DISTILLED water solution on film... dripping wet!!! Solution can be made with baby shampoo, 1 teaspoon per gallon of water 3. Cut 1/8" short around entire window (otherwise can destroy your windows) to expand/contract. 4. VITAL: Watch LOTS of YouTube videos with lengthy explanations!!!! 5. Clean windows extra clean, corners even more. Scrape with a razor blade repeatedly! DO NOT clean with Windex, destroys adhesive 6. Cut & spray solution on film in the room where the window is located 7. Use a stiff straight edge to guide your cutting to avoid tears & wrinkles while cutting 8. Do not allow material to bend/crease or there will be permanent visible creases/flaws on window 9. Really work scraping of the window to attach the film, important for good adhesion. Use a soft cloth/paper towel over scraper blade. Wet surface lightly first before scraping 10. *** Do not install film when there is a lot of static electricity in the air. Wait for a rainly/drizzly humid day (not below 50 deg)!! Otherwise it will attract dust, hair. 11. Where you cut the film make sure it is clean, even damp for less static 12. Work carefully, not fast, be patient Good luck
