At first you think "it's just a tarp..." But the reflective side really does keep your heat in. I tested it in a cold November rain.. it worked perfectly to keep me dry and warm despite the fact I had damp clothes on. There are eyelets in the "blanket" so you can tie it into a sleeping bag or wrap it around you like a blanket. I am looking forward to trying it as a liner in my hammock in spring. It isn't to heavy to add to the pack and comes with a carry case made of the same material (excellent for keeping the heat in for rehydrating backpack meals!)

I wanted this blanket to use as a ground cover for outdoor events. However, the more I read about it and played with it, I realized it is not a simple tarp. The Arcturus All Weather Outdoor Survival Blanket is very versatile and has many features. The blanket is constructed of two layers of polypropylene, one is a solid color and the other side is reflective, like aluminum foil. I was a little confused at the “blanket” description, there is nothing soft or fuzzy here. However, I've learned the reflective side can be used to maintain your own body heat while eliminating the elements of wind or rain. The reflective side can also be used to reflect heat away in an event where there is too much sun. Last, I read where the reflective side can be used to as a way to signal for help...pretty smart. The blanket is waterproof, windproof and tear-resistant…it is big too, 5' x7'. The four corners have grommets that are reinforced with a tear-resistant fabric that also is stitched around the entire perimeter of the blanket. The blanket comes with a storage bag and weighs less than a pound. Needless to say, I got more than bargained for with the Arcturus Survival Blanket. I am very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend this item to anyone seeking a well-made and well-designed survival blanket.
