Transformers: Generations Power of the Primes Voyager Class Grimlock

Following hot on the heels of Hasbro's "TITANS RETURN" line (which brought back the classic "Head Masters" characters in all-new designs), the "POWER OF THE PRIMES" line follows a similar theme, recalling the Transformer's "TargetMasters" (smaller robots into weapons) and "Power Masters" (smaller robots into engines/powerpacks). One of the highlights of the POTP line is the return of the legendary DINOBOTS characters; dinosaur robots that can draw their toy origins back to late '70s / early '80s Japan, where they were a part of Takara Co.'s (Hasbro's partner in all things Transformers) DIACLONE line of toys. It is within Takara's DIACLONE line that a majority of the G1 Transformers first came to light, with some of the more "real-world object" Transformers - Soundwave, Blaster, Pistol-form Megatron, cassette robots, etc. - derived from their MICROCHANGE line, an offshoot of Takara's MICROMAN line, which eventually came to the US as the MICRONAUTS. The DINOBOTS were one of the most popular additions to the American Transformers line, and each transforming thunder lizard had its own group of fans. But none was more popular than the T-Rex-styled 'bot, GRIMLOCK. This new version of GRIMLOCK features all-new tooling and transformation design, and is larger than its previous incarnation. This apparent growth spurt becomes apparent when you realize that, unlike the classic DINOBOTS. the POTP versions are all part of a "combiner" group, with GRIMLOCK serving as the main torso of the combined form. Currently, GRIMLOCK, SWOOP (Pterodactyl), and SLUG (Triceratops) are available, with SLUDGE (Brontosaurus) and SNARL (Stegosaurus) coming in the next assortment release. Also available is SLASH (Raptor) who, as far as I can tell, does not serve as an element of the final combiner form... but heck, he's a DINOBOT too, so you know, you should get him too. GRIMLOCK and the rest of the new era POTP DINOBOTS will appeal to fans/collectors of the classic G1 line, and also their kids, who naturally love dinosaurs.
