K&N Cold Air Intake Kit: High Performance, Guaranteed to Increase Horsepower: 2010-2017 Chevy/GMC (Equinox, Terrain) 2.4L L4, 77-3071KS

I bought and installed this kit a couple of weeks before a 1200 mile trip. First, the install was easy. Everything fit as it was supposed to. It didn't take very long (sorry, I didn't time it!), but I did spend some extra time to remove the brackets/pins left over from the removal of the stock air plenum. Probably spent maybe 90 minutes total. Second, the quality is great. The air box top fit perfectly...I was surprised! All the clamps and hoses are more than adequate. The intake tube is a work of art. However... The only thing I didn't like was the air injection connection on the intake tube (IT). My Equinox (2016 4-cyl) does not have air injection, but K&N provides a rubber cap and a clamp to block off the port on the IT. I don't like the looks of that on the front of the IT. Kind of takes away from the "custom" look. I wish they could have put this air injection port on the back of the IT and provide a longer hose for those who need it. Would have made for a more professional look/installation on my car. Just my opinion...it may not bother you. I have no way of measuring it, but the claims of 9 HP increase @ 4600 RPM might very well be true. I immediately noticed improved acceleration...especially in the 3200-4200 range. I try to not spend much time above 4000RPM, but this engine will rev up to 6000+ RPM in a heartbeat. Seemed smoother going up the mountains in VA & WV (didn't spend nearly as much time in the 5000+ RPM range as before!). This car gets great gas mileage, so I can't say the K&N intake kit helped in that regard, but it certainly hasn't hurt the MPG from what I've seen so far. All in all, a very nice product that does what it says it will do. Where else can you get 9 HP and 10 lb/ft of torque for $300?
