If your food does need cutting and you'd prefer to snap the utensils together for a long fork and spoon, simply pre-cut your food, before, or after cooking such as with Chinese food, so no cutting is needed when serving. The Chinese considered it rude to cut your food at the table. Would also be good for vacations at hotels, motels where getting takeout out food.

For the price, the design and quality is pretty good and does what it's meant to do. I ordered sets for everyone in our family for a fall camping trip, and it was convenient being able to hand each person their utensil set at meal time
