Use the lower grit to repair a roughed edge, damaged edge, and curved edge of knife you are sharpening. Use the higher grit to enhance the edge of the knife to be sharper. These stones are varying in grit for fine, medium, and course. The plastic handles have a comfortable grip. The total length of this product is 8-1/4".
