This product is great, BUT make sure your child is within the weight range. My grandson is a small 24 lbs 2 year old. The strap was as tight as if could go, because of his small frame. He has to stay vertical because he is so lite that if he leans backwards the preserver over powers him. So make sure your childs weight is in the range stated on the package. Otherwise you may be disappointed. I have purchased 3 of these, one for each of my grandchildren. Life guard approved and Grandfather approved.

I bought this product in the hopes it would get my shy little girl(3 years old) out of the kiddie pool and into the regular pool so we could work on her swimming. She is very timid, cautious, and despises getting water in her eyes. On her first day she was apprehensive and did not want to separate. I would move around and have her floating with me and let go and encourage her and get her to kick her feet and grab her again before she had a panic attack. On the second day, she wanted to float by herself and was pushing my arms away and was kicking her legs and there has been no going back for her two weeks later. This is a great product that allowed us, and her to feel more safe in the pool and lets a child work on swimming, but i would never recommend not paying attention to your child when using these floaties.
