Vasque Men's Talus AT UltraDry Waterproof Hiking Boot Dark Earth/Avocado - 07368

I wanted to wait until I'd had these boots a little while before I reviewed. I have now had them 6 weeks. I work in a landscape business so I needed a boot that was comfortable, had good support since I'm on my feet walking a good bit, durable since I'm walking in all kinds of conditions, and waterproof since terrain is quite often damp from dew in mornings and at times I encounter rain showers. Happily, I can report these boots do everything I describe above as needing, and more. First, when I put them on, even without stringing them up and walking around, I knew instantly they were going to be a great fit. Just an incredible feel. After I got them tied and walked around I was amazed at the comfort, especially the support in the sole. And the next word in my mind was "Sweet!" So to expand on this - they have an excellent support in the sole as well as the sides. So you should not need to buy any orthotic inserts. At least I certainly have not needed any as the support system is so superb. So many of the boots I've owned in recent years have come with narrow, round shoestrings that refuse to stay tied. Not these boots - these are the flat kind and they are pretty wide. My boots have not come untied one single time, not even when I was walking in some high weeds that had some briars. The toebox is very wide and roomy. This was another issue I've had with a lot of boots in recent years in so far as narrow, pointed toeboxes. Not these. Nice and wide and my toes spread out extremely well. I ordered the Wide because I wanted to make sure I had room for thick socks. I have walked in mud, wet grass, tall wet weeds, and even a rain storm - THEY ARE FULLY WATERPROOF! This is my first pair of Vasque boots, and it most definitely won't be my last. So many boot manufacturers are bad about discontinuing certain models of their boots that I like and so I'm seriously considering buying a 2nd pair of these just to make sure I have a backup in case that happens down the road with this model.
