This stove rules!

This is a great camping stove! Heats up super fast and is easy to manually light. It cooks evenly which is great. It's a great price for this little stove. It folds up well and is light which works well for backpacking. Only note...make sure to let it cool down before touching it to put it away. I made that mistake once and it wasnt good. Also, the fuel is priced well making this a great camping stove for 1 to 3 people. Highly recommended for the outdoors!

Value meets functionality

While this Primus Classic is not as light as the "pocket rocket" nor does it use the more economical alcohol or white gas fuel... there is a reason it is referred to as "classic". It just works. As far as canister stoves go, it is simple to operate, convenient to backpack or put in a glove compartment, and works great with small and or larger pots or frying pans. With the larger diameter burner, you can actually cook and simmer over this thing rather than simply heating water to a boiling point as fast as possible. It will do that too if necessary. The only things I do not like about it is the cost of canisters is the highest per oz. camping fuel you can use. But, you should be able to find the size canistered pictured in the store or other sporting goods stores for around 5-7 dollars. The other thing I don't like is the carrying case that comes with it. While it fits the stove fine, the fins on the stove are sharp enough to protrude through the fabric and if packed near your pots and pans can scratch them. Next time I pack it it will be separate from my non-stick pan, or double bagged. Otherwise, this is truly a classic for the backpacking adventurer and at this price an excellent value.

First Time Impressions

I just bought this item at my local Walmart as a cheap alternative to some of the more package stoves like the jetboil flash and ETA lite. I was drawn to the packaging size and how everything is compact with those items but the price tag can get daunting since I am just beginning in backpacking. I put it together using the instructions and by put it together I mean I screwed the one valve into the stove as if that required instructions. It was very windy while I used the stove and had no problem at all in terms of a blow out. The stove itself is very sturdy and stable however I did notice that after I used it some noise came from the stove as if it had been affected thermally and expanded more than I would expect. Overall very happy with the purchase. Combine this with the Stanley 24 oz cook set with nesting cups or the grease pot and a handy spork and you have in my opinion a very good set up for camp cooking. If you intend to store the cooker in your pot make sure it is big enough. With even a single cup in the cook set I cannot fit the stove in the cooker, but if you have another bowl or coffee cups and you just need to boil water it will work well.
