I have back and leg issues (many serious back surgeries) and used 2 'vellux' blankets for warmth with a goose down comforter and kept the heat low. Those blankets weigh a lot, and I would wake up in pain from rolling over. I got this about a month ago, it's much lighter in weight but fluffier. Sleeping under it and a vellux means a lot less pain but better warmth. So I'm ordering another and giving up both vellux ones to my cats. For cat owners: My boy cat Cooper loved the vellux ones, but the moment he tried this one he no longer leaves when asked, requiring serious cajoling (and treats) to get him off (he gets it during the day, but he's not a good nighttime sleeper.) His handicapped brother Brownie always sits with me and is a great sleeping buddy, and also prefers this one. I put the vellux in the living room for Cooper, but if given any opportunity he scoots right into the bedroom and claims this one. If you have an older animal with warmth issues, you might want to order an extra!
