I take 1 zinc at night for immune system strength. If I know I'm catching a cold, not very often, but the kids still manage to bring some funk around my body isn't used to... First sign of my tell tale sign, which is a sore throat, I take 2 at morning, noon and night, for 3 days, and I can almost always lessen the severity of the bug. Take with food, or a little something, we have found any zinc to be unpleasant and nauseating on an empty stomach, but I swear by them for cold prevention and less severity. I used to use Zicam, but one year I only had nasal swabs, and they knocked out my sense of smell for quite some time. That was an unacceptable side effect, so I switched to just plain zinc supplements and never encountered that issue again. Added bonus, we're not paying for a brand name that almost ruined the benefits by using an odd method of delivery. These are a great bargain and work very well. Part of my daily health regimen, win win, effective and inexpensive, highly recommend.
