A Face in the Crowd celebrates the triumphs and challenges of those who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and presents a diverse group of people living their lives filled with love, hope, and happiness — as well as fear and oppression. Incorporating stories and profiles of gay men and women, sharing tales of families and challenges, underscoring the soul searching of coming out, and looking ahead to the increasingly hopeful future, A Face in the Crowd poignantly illustrates that gay life in America does not fit a single stereotype.
Sponsored by the Matthew Shepard Foundation, A Face in the Crowd was created out of a desire to break down barriers rooted in prejudice and hate. Within these pages are real-life stories that can help us all better understand the meaning of tolerance toward those who are perceived as being different, and begin to embrace the rich diversity that exists around us.
