A bearing is a machine element that constrains relative motion to only the desired motion, and reduces friction between moving parts. The design of the bearing may, for example, provide for free linear movement of the moving part or for free rotation around a fixed axis; or, it may prevent a motion by controlling the vectors of normal forces that bear on the moving parts. Most bearings facilitate the desired motion by minimizing friction. Bearings are classified broadly according to the type of operation, the motions allowed, or to the directions of the loads (forces) applied to the parts. Motors are used in all kinds of restaurant equipment to power beaters, blenders, slicers, basket lifts, filters, fans and much more. A motor converts one form of energy into mechanical energy. Electric motors convert electrical energy into mechanical motion, pneumatic motors use compressed air. A motor is a device driven by electricity, air, or hydraulic pressure, which does not change the chemical composition of its energy source. Electric motors may be classified by considerations such as power source type, internal construction, application and type of motion output. In addition to AC versus DC types, motors may be brushed or brushless, may be of various phase (see single-phase, two-phase, or three-phase), and may be either air-cooled or liquid-cooled.
