This serves an unusual purpose for me for which it is well suited. I keep it in my large clothing closet, facing the door. When it is time to walk the dog in the middle of the night, or run outside for some other unforeseen purpose, I keep pants shirt, shoes, leash, flashlight, (gun:) for dark, stormy, creepy nights and checking out things that go bump in the night) carefully organized on the steps of this shelf.
