A Swedish Christmas Classic

My grandmother gave this book to my dad (the youngest of nine) and my dad read it to me (first born) when I was little. When I was 6 I got my very own copy and proceeded to receive almost every book written by Astrid Lindgren. I'm glad the Tomten books are online for my grandson and grandson to be. My family wanted us to experiance our Swedish/Norwegian culture along with American customs-of course. We ate Swedish food and learned how holidays were celebrated way way up north.Swedish people are great believers in fantasies and stories that revolve around the family during long mostly rural winters of days gone by. The Tomten is a beautiful book that children will enjoy and understand.Reading this (book) to children is a treat because it tells a story with warmth and humor. Parents will appreciate a story told with such grace and seeming simplicity. Parents can discuss this (book) or not. Its beautifully written and illustrated.Very appropriate for the holidays or any day when a little giving can get lost among the glitz. Thanks!
