My dog loves this ball. The light is nice, but the texture and material are ideal. She's a super-chewer and loves to chew on this ball, but hasn't been able to damage it yet. Great item!

Our favorite lighted ball

Our pup is a heavy chewer and most glow in the dark or lighted balls have only lasted days or weeks with her. We've had the Nite Ize Disc-O ball for a year now, and it's held up beautifully. It's definitely water resistant as we have used it in the rain many times. I've never tried throwing it into a body of water. I don't think I will after reading other reviews. But that's okay, I still think it's the best option on the market for a nighttime game of fetch. We combine it with the lighted collar so we can see both our pup and the ball in the dark.
