Stunning!

'There is evil in the world and sometimes what protects pacifists are soldiers willing to meet that violence with equal violence.' Boy howdy, this was a good book! I was immersed completely on the first page. I'd never read a book by Hallee Bridgeman and I was just amazed at how good the writing was. The story line was great and the character development was very well done indeed. I'm always a bit skeptical when choosing a new author's book to read, but I was so not disappointed here. This author's words grabbed me immediately and just refused to let me go. Her heart-stopping military suspense with a God-honoring spiritual thread was stunning. My family has a large military presence and I am a complete patriot, and this aspect of the book really was amazing. I'm always thankful for those brave men and women who put their all on the line for this great country we live in. It was unputdownable to this reader and I could not wait to get back to it after having to pause for life occasionally. I'm happy to see she has a back list and I can read more of her good work. Well done! My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley and the Revell Reads program. The opinion here is my own.

Life, Death, and Love?

Cynthia is a doctor working in the deepest jungle delivering babies, but she is also the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. Out of nowhere, warlords invade her village, and threaten to kill her. Suddenly an American contingent appears, and kills the bad guys. When told she must leave with the Americans, Cynthia has a fit, but reluctantly goes. When trying to get out, they face a harrowing journey through the jungle as terrorists continue hunting them. Instead of things calming down when they get to civilization, there are even more dangers. Despite all the hazards, Cynthia finds herself becoming friends with Rick, the head of the American rescue group. Will Cynthia find happiness after she was forced to leave the jungle? When they get back to the United States, will Cynthia and Rick ever see each other again? Can Cynthia and Rick have a future with her being part of an affluent family, and him, a soldier from a small town? Is it possible to have a relationship with Rick when Cynthia knows first-hand how dangerous his work is? This story is full of action, danger, and thrills which will keep you turning pages to see what happens. This is a clean tale told from a Christian viewpoint. I recommend this five-star book to fans of people in harm's way— and how, or if, they find their way out of it! Intense Military Suspense with Romance, Too

I enjoyed this military suspense book because it had lots of action and was very fast paced. The battles portrayed are realistic and intense at times. I especially enjoyed the credibility of the characters, with the nicknames of the army men being one of my favorite parts. Cynthia Myers and her mission work is realistic as well as praiseworthy since she thinks nothing of being in danger as long as she is helping people. Captain Rick Norton and Cynthia make a good pair once they get over their immediate repelling of each other since she is a pacifist and he is a fighter. I liked the intricate weaving of the story and all of the details that stimulated my imagination, especially the interactions between the characters and their dialogues with each other. This is a book that made me immediately want to read another adventure about these characters and since this is the first in a series, I look forward to the next books.
