Fake

Though the item says it's shipped and sold by Walmart, many of these counterfeit products are still making their way through. I was skeptical before I ordered because there are 2 different listings for this fragrance on the site. One is under the name "aquAlina" (with an 'a'). The correct spelling of the brand name is aquOlina. Both are listed as "shipped and sold by Walmart" despite the fact that one is a clearly detectable counterfeit. I decided on this listing because it at least had the correct name brand and if it turned out to be a fake as well, $10 wasn't much to lose. Turns out my suspicions were validated. When it arrived I immediately knew it was fake. It smells like the cheap knockoff perfumes you can buy at dollar stores - no matter the brand they all have that 'alcohol mixed with soap' scent. It's hard to describe but if you've ever come across fake fragrances you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Things like this really make you loose trust in what should be a "safe" buy from a "safe' company. This is what's happening with online marketplaces like Walmart and others: A lot of products are sold by third-party sellers but are shipped by Walmart. Third-party sellers ship their fake products to Walmart warehouses then Walmart ships the product to you. Walmart doesn't confirm that the product is legitimate before shipping it. Nevertheless, it'll usually say when a product is sold via third-party and we all know the risks that come with ordering third-party. The reason why these fakes are getting past the "sold and shipped by Walmart" label is because when these third-party dupes arrive at the warehouse, all the products often get pooled together by bar code, regardless of whether they come from the brands themselves or other distributors. So the fakes get mixed in with the ones legitimately acquired by Walmart. It's done this way so Walmart can grab whichever product that's ordered at the nearest warehouse to the customer as quickly as possible. When they grab the product from the warehouse, they don't check to see whether it's legitimate. Because of this, I now have a fake fragrance sitting around that I refuse to use because there's no telling what's inside of it. It's sad that we're now at the point where ordering fragrances "directly" from Walmart has become just as risky as ordering from external vendors. Never again
