Takenoko uses fun visual pieces that engage children to learn different problem solving skills without feeling like they are learning. The game is really about growing bamboo, which is the main food for pandas that China has allowed Japan to have. Using the common map that grows with every players turn, you grow bamboo that satisfies personal objective cards that increase your score. The player with the most score after 8 rounds gets the gratitude of the Japanese Emperor and wins the game. As a family we have really enjoyed learning to play and as a homeschooling family we have appreciated the benefits we see in the children's learning. We are eager to dig into the expansion set, that adds the lady and baby pandas into the mix.

For the price honestly the game is very enjoyable I love the colors the game is fun not luck based and you work with your opponents together and against eachother. A simple yet fun game enjoyable for all ages my mother loved it and so did my friends great game worth the price and the art is beautiful.
