Rheumatology is the study and practice of medical immunology which is concerned with the management of rheumatic diseases. More than 200 different disorders fall under rheumatic diseases. These include rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, back pain and tendinits, besides others. Many of these conditions are degenerative and in some cases, fatal. The field of rheumatology is evidence-driven and new treatment modalities are being explored.
