The metal is thick and sturdy. It holds my perfume bottles perfectly. The bottom of the tray is covered with a felt-like material, which is great and won't scratch my wooden dresser. It is well worth the price. So much so I ordered 2 trays...it looks exactly like how it is photographed. You won't be disappointed!
