Sir Ray is second to none. His lyrics are masterpieces and then you start to listen, really listen, to the music. I've been a Kinks fan for decades (my first album was Schoolboys in 1977). I never really truly appreciated the whole catalog until I had time to devote to appreciating the whole catalog. I'm close to obsessed. YouTube has the ACL in which all of these songs are showcased (in addition to Kinks classics). The Tourist is what lured me in. Bright and fast paced and funny “drinking with my chummy chum chums”. The Getaway is recognizable from the first note. There's nothing like it. My current favorite is Over My Head. Starts out simple enough and progresses to sheer pure relationship ending brilliance.
