Pianist Donald Smith is Lonnie Liston Smith's brother and also plays flute and sings. He was featured on the Oliver Lake album Heavy Spririts and has recorded sporadically with Lake, Bobby Hutcherson, Hamiett Bluett, Andrew Cyrille, Lester Bowie, as well as with his brother. This much sought after recording was Donald's first as leader and was made in 1976 in New York City and features the rhythm pairing of Cecil, McBee - bass and Jack deJohnette - drums.
