Re released blast from the past

Back in around 1988 I’d say, a friend of mine got a Monster Beetle and when I saw it I was instantly shocked by how cool it looked and much more well made than the toy grade RC vehicles I’d had were. I wanted the Beetle badly, but settled for the Blackfoot to have something different from his, even though the body is all that’s different, and loved driving it for years. Fast forward to 2022, and I saw that the Monster Beetle kit was still available so I immediately ordered mine. At the same time I ordered a Spektrum SLT3 and receiver and an Onyx 4000kv brushless motor and esc combo from Horizon as well. I also ordered an MIP ball differential kit to replace the stock plastic diff gear and sealed bearing kit to replace the stock plastic bushings. You could say my Beetle is no ordinary Beetle, it’s more of a killer Beetle now… hits top speeds of 50+ mph with unbelievable acceleration. It’s just SO much cooler than a new style RTR brushless RC truck that now is comparable or even faster than the new releases from Traxxas or Arrma in my opinion. Not to mention everyone who remembers the Monster Beetle from the late 1980’s sees mine zip by them and comment how ridiculously cool it is to see the classic Tamiya Beetle spanking the new trucks. I plan on buying the black version soon just to display as im beating up my body pretty badly but it’s worth it for me!!
