20230112 - ROG Crosshair VII Impact

It's a beautiful board to work with. The PCIe NVMe Storage riser is a nice touch - as elevating the drives further from the board and GPU keeps the drives far from these hot devices. While I don't use AIO in my builds, 2 radiator fan headers + pump header may be useful to others. There's a Type C header in the board. I've always wanted to use this feature in my case (Inwin TU150) Comes with POST code display at the back. I have mixed feelings with how the "extra space" this DTX board was utilized. To my understanding it was used to house the audio componentry. It might be useful to others but I've opted to use an external audio interface as my sound device. I have to admit though that the device options will be limited given that this is directly under the GPU .. putting an extra NVMe slot might not be the brightest idea (heat). Maybe the audio device is the only device feasible at that space. The Good: Solid Mainboard, this hardly flex NVMe Riser USB Type C Header Water Pump Headers Troubleshooting Display The Bad: DTX size can be more than housing an Audio Device No NVMe Slot at the back of the board

ROG Crosshair VIII Impact

I regret not buying this board 2 years ago when it first hit retail. I have had a love/hate relationship with ASUS products for going on 15 years now. I remember when I had to shift from DFI to ASUS years ago and thought the price/performance value was questionable. I am in the camp that thinks they charge "way" too much for most of their products no matter how good they are. This MOBO hits a little different though. Is it overpriced? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. It easily is the best AM4 board I have ever built on. It easily OC's RAM and PBO. The BIOS is both stable and functional. It works as a Ryzentosh. It does everything I need it to do save for having Thunderbolt support. I will eagerly be waiting for the next generation Impact to come out on the AM5 platform.

Best board on the market

My Favorite board of all time, I wish I didn't have to get rid of it but I decided to go to a ITX build and the cases I decided on wouldn't fit the DTX size as it's just a little to long. But if you need a itx board and have room to fit this in your itx case I would 100% buy this over a B550 or x570 itx board.
