Bought this item so that I could stand to do some of my work. It has a fairly wide base, so you'll need about 3 x2 feet of space on your desk or other flat surface. It adjusts to multiple levels which is a great feature. That said, the support bars move when fully assembled. (Not a tight connection). The desk serves the purpose I bought it for. The price has been reduced since I purchased it but is still high for the value offered
