Good light duty piece of equipment

I mounted this unit on my utility truck crane. It is combined with a 3/16 inch 50 foot, 7/19 aircraft grade wire rope in case I need to lift something out of a vault or drag something up a slope. It is great to have the safety and control of the automatic brake. The loads I lift rarely exceed 300 pounds and it does the work with ease and smoothness without doubling the line. A fifth star would be in order if it came with a tempered wire rope installed and if the crank could be mounted on either side, both would be worth the higher price (I pulled a sled with 270 pounds of bricks up a hill to temper the wire rope, a lot of work setting it all up). Keep in mind that a 50 foot 3/16" wire rope does not lead off the bottom of the spool without making contact with the shaft for a couple of windings, even when installed with the recommended fleet angle in the manual. I had to weld a framework midway on the crane arm for a second pulley wheel to run the wire rope over to get the necessary angle to clear the shaft. This won't be necessary if you are using a shorter wire rope or if it is practical to mount the winch backwards with the wire rope leading off the top of the spool. There are no warnings against that in the manual. This winch will be great for what I do, wish I found it long ago.
