My first open back headphones are real good!

Sound quality is excellent. I'm using it with a vmoda micro to play PS5 online and it is much better immersion than the experience with my 5 year old Hyper X Cloud II. The open back really contributes to have a clear sound for games.Highly recommended.

Solid All-Rounder

I'm not an audiophile, so $130 is really expensive for headphones (SHP9600).The sound quality is great and can match my $200 EDIFIER R1700BT bookshelf speakers.I prefer sounds that are more warm and soupy over tinny and accurate, and these headphones seem to do the job.The clamping force is moderate and is decently comfortable with the foam-like ear cushions.Doesn't feel that great on my glasses though but I think that is an issue with all headphones of this kind.Despite being open-back, outside sounds are still slightly muffled which I don't like.My headphones also came with a cable boom mic with inline controls-- very handy to have.Mic quality was OK and being able to control the volume with my fingers is really nice.Overall I think I could recommend this to fellow non-audiophiles that still somewhat care about sound quality.

Wallet-friendly quality headphones

The Philips SHP9500 headphones, out of the box, don't look like much. Solid construction, if a little plasticky. They look nice enough for the price, but how they feel and sound is more important to me than aesthetics. The headband is plenty flexible, and I've worn them for 4+ hours with no strain on my head or ears. The pads are quite comfortable, although they probably will not last forever. My best fit is just above a 2 on both extending ear-arms. The included cable is very long (10 ft.), but good quality, and I actually use it for plugging into audio equipment, and use a 1m cable for listening from a phone or computer. The open-back keeps your ears from getting sweaty, and the cups themselves are quite large. I have pretty average sized ears, and they feel a little small in the headphones, they barely touch the edges of the actual pads.As far as sound goes, the soundstage is just under the right amount of open-ness for me. However, the music itself always sounds great. Metal, jazz, electronic, folk, it all sounds very natural. The frequency response feels even across the board, making them a decent pair of monitoring headphones. There's of course better equipment on the market, but the next appreciable improvement in sound quality are the Shure 840s or the AudioTechica ATH-M50s, both of which are about twice as expensive. Comfort wise, these Philips headphones are as good if not better, due to their light weight and minimum clamping on the head and ears.
