Not for beginners but great food

My husband and I ate at the Mesa Grill in New York and it is in the top 5 of our favorite restaurants. His cookbook was being sold for 40.00 at the restaurant so I was happy to find it online for half the price. Not all of the Mesa Grill menu items are in this book although you can find some of them on Food Network and on his website. The pages are beautifully illustrated and I love how the introduction of the book gives you tips on how to prepare certain foods. The reason I say it is not for beginners is becuase the recipes can be time consuming. For example I made the 16 spice chicken rub, you have to make 2 additional sauces for this recipe which are on different pages of the book, then to make those sauces, you have to prepare the foods. I had to roast the bell peppers for 45 minutes before making the sauce but I think just buying roasted peppers in a jar would suffice. Another reason is that some of the ingredients are hard to find even living in New Mexico but thanks to the internet you can always order. Other than those downsides, the recipes I have made are absolutley delicious and has only added to my cooking experience. I ended up ordering two to make one as a gift.
