Ice makers do work, keep them clean from calcium

Had a previous nugget ice maker. Similar to this one. Noise is ok, about the same as our old one. Last one lasted 13 months. I took it apart to see what the issue was. It started making a loud squealing noise while making ice. What I found is some of the water lines had calcium build up and the ice making part was not getting enough water. I know we did not follow the 1 week cleaning directions. On this new one we will follow the cleaning cycle and also purchased cleaning fluid you add to machine periodically to flush out calcium mineral deposits. Also purchased Walmarts 3 year extended warranty. Will see how it goes for the next few years. NOTE, one thing the instructions don't tell you is the top lid pops off and there is a water tray in the back that needs to be periodically cleaned out.

Love this ice maker.

The ice is much like sonic and it begins making ice within a few minutes of turning it on. Although the interior basket where the ice is output to is not refrigerated, it really doesn't matter much. It makes in so quickly that there's no need to store the ice. I wake up in the morning, turn it on, do some small tasks in the kitchen for the day and I'm ready to make a glass on juice with ice to enjoy.
