Kichler Lighting Canfield Patio Collection 52 Inch Canfield Patio Fan SBK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] To begin, the box indicated to be careful opening from the box top because damage may occur to the fan parts. This warning was very helpful because the parts were very close to the top of the box and would have been damaged had that warning not been printed on the box. The fan box was well organized and packaged well. The fan parts were well protected and organized too. An Instruction Manual, Ceiling and Wall Fan Warranty, Repair Parts Listing, and supplemental informational page were all included with the fan. Concerning fan installation, the manual was clear and easy to read. I highlight the following: o Safety Rules. The book placed a lot of emphasis on safety and turning off power. o A Complete list of tools and materials required for installation was provided. The list was complete however, I used a low-torque power driver tool in place of the screw drivers. o Illustrations. There were good diagrams and illustrations. Simple yet easy to understand. Even an illustration of how to wire the fan correctly. All illustrations were very clean and clear. Hanging the fan was simple. Again, very good step-by-step directions were provided. I followed the given instructions and installation was mostly trouble free. It took about two hours to install the fan (from opening the box to cleaning up after installation). Suggestions / Comments: There were a lot of parts in small plastic bags. There were small bags of parts in bags of parts. Perhaps providing a comprehensive list of all these parts would be helpful. I recommend placing a protective layer of packaging by the taped seams of the box. Although there is a written warning on the box to be careful, the instruction could be easily overlooked. There was no mention of the plug to cover the hole in the switch housing, which is required if you are not installing a light. This was a very small plastic part and there was also no instruction that indicated it was a required part (I almost threw away because it is not mentioned on the parts list so I did not realize it was a required part). It seems the instructions assume all consumers will install a light kit on the fan.
