Just installed 1/17/2022

I just installed this myself. I put it under my sink so it was a little tight but I got it in. You can mount this on wall or floor so consider your options. I had a couple hiccups during the installation process but it was all easy fixes at the fitting points. Installation review/recommendations: Before installing, get the serial number off the top assembly piece. It will be on the big white sticker. You need this to fill out the warranty information. Overall, it was fairly simple to install. I had all the tools needed and it was a simple process with no cutting, plumbing, or gluing. This is an easy task to tackle. I'd recommend taping the guide to the mounting location and tapping either a drillbit or scratch-awl to the where the holes line up. (This kit comes with an installation guide with the recommended mounting measurements). This will make the drilling easier and will cut out half the time. This kit also comes with "elbows" which aren't necessary but are given to you for ease of installation. I put these on the inlet/outlet areas of the filter and then put the hoses respectively. YOU CANT TAKE THE HOSES OR ELBOWS OUT SO BE CERTAIN THEY ARE GOOD LENGTHS!! Take your time with threading. The fitting they supply is plastic and will cross-thread easily. That means it could be more prone to leaking so take your time and go by hand first. There's no "troubleshooting guide" so here's mine: If the water line fitting adapter is leaking, shut off water, then verify it's not cross threaded then tighten a little more. Don't crack it. If the hose inlet/outlet ports are leaking, shut off water then push the hoses and/or elbows until they don't go any further. They will push farther in than you expect. Trust me. When it stops the first time, it goes more. If it leaks out the top, the filter may not be twisted all the way. If you have any other problems call the hotline they provide. That's all I can think of. Hope this helps.

Easy to install

I only installed it today. It was fairly easy and I expected small leaks as you do with all types of plumbing projects. There were none. But, I also heeded advice from other purchasers double check to make sure the plastic threads are lined up properly to avoid damage and to make sure you push the hoses all the way into the quick connectors. I haven't tasted water as good as this from my home faucet in several decades. I don't know how the water companies get away with it.

One problem

A.O. Smith has been around for near 75 years. A very trusted plumbing fixture/ device manufacture. We opted for this filter from many different manufactures because of their involvement with the plumbing industry. As a licensed plumber I am extremely familiar with A. O. Smith. Being in this industry since 1977 I am very familiar with just about any piping system. This model filter has one flaw. It comes with a type of "T" diverter that attaches to the fixture stop. There are 4 connection. To the valve- to filter inlet- from filter to diverter- top out back to faucet. This fitting is plastic. It can very easily be stripped when attaching the faucet supply line to the "T". The female end threads onto the fixture stop. It is "never" a good idea to attach a female plastic fitting to a male brass fitting. These type of connections can put stress on the plastic and cause it to split either first thing if over tightened or possibly over time if under stress without warning in the future. If this diverter fitting was made of brass I would give this product 5 stars across the board.
