I needed these to protect my heels after a long hospital stay to repair a broken hip. After three weeks in bed, my heels were calloused and sore. My nurse noticed that I had bed sores on my heels. Since I'm diabetic, I needed nursing care at home to treat these awful and painful sores. Because of the open wounds it was hard to walk and I couldn't wear shoes. These heel guards are padded and comfortable to wear. They protected my heels and kept the bandages on. I could walk better and was able to visit my doctor about my leg. Work well. Loved the fact that they have velcro at the ankle so I can keep them on around the house. I ordered a second pair and washed the first pair with a little dish soap and water and dried them in the sun in my window. These have eased my heel pain.
