I have thoroughly enjoyed these books! They are a special treat of a tale about the days of an indomitable young lady making her way through the world where circumstances constantly conspire against her. She desires an education in a time where domestic pursuits and fine arts are the definition for women's education.Emma struggles to keep her inherited home with no finances, and along the way, her humor and good will toward all help her to make many friends in the unusual town in which she lives. Every character is excellently drawn from the poetry quoting curate to the insufferable elderly cousin Archibald and the mute (by choice)bankers wife . She simply just had nothing else to say. And I am following her lead now before I write more words in praise of these journals than they have in telling the story.
