good video, poor video quality

I had this on VHS years ago and wanted a replacement, thinking that a new version automatically would be digitally or somehow remastered and cleaned up, but unfortunately that was not the case. The instruction itself is worthwhile, but it's hard to have to put up with poor quality when you don't expect it, and when it seems it should be easy for the manufacturers to clean up.
