These are really nice for sewing. There are different colors for marking light or dark material, then the Mark's are easily erased by brushes on the pencil Comes with a pencil shsharpener so you can make very fine lines.

Dry chalk needs to be moistdned

Sharpened easily. The chalk is dry, and did not transfer easily to the cotton woven fabric. I moistened the chalk tip which then softened the chalk, and only then chalk marks were left on the fabric. Remoistening was needed multiple times. Purchase was not too expensive, so I'm ok with the purchase and will use the chalk pencils for sewing.
