I have had several high end audiophile systems over the years. (I also have quality PA systems in my side business) so I've heard a number of subs over the years. Typically I prefer the power and reach of 15 inch subs driven by high wattage pro amps for the home, but after buying the Jones designed Pioneer SP-BS22-LR speakers for my sons dorm room, I brought them home after he moved and gave them a listen. WAY better bookshlef speakers than they ought to be for $129 per PAIR! I started using them in my living room HT system, and decided to pair them with the sub. Bought one, and was impressed, especially for an 8 inch driver. Wanted a tad more output so I bought another and run them both. Great buy! If you go for very high output from your subs maybe choose another, as again, these are 8 inchers with a smaller onboard amp. For me, they are great. Low end in movies is pretty impressive. Watched Hacksaw Ridge and these subs really got the low end of the soundtrack done. Buy one and give it shot, unless you really think you need to spend 800-1000 on something bigger.
