Pro's and Cons

I needed a new compost bin for my yard since the one I have is almost 15 years old and the plastic is deteriorating on it so much I can't even put a lid on it any more. This seemed reasonably priced even though there wasn't much in the way of descriptions or reviews on it. My first issue with this is the assembly directions, or should I say lack of. There were pictures but they were unclear. It was easy enough once you studied the pictures for a few minutes and used a little trial and error. I got it right on the second try. Everything just snaps together. No tools or equipment required, which makes it easy to assemble, but hard to keep from pulling apart. (see note on lid issue). My other issues with this bin are there is no bottom and therefore nothing to anchor it to the ground. My old bin has a bottom with holes in it and it has side holes to anchor it to the ground to prevent critters from being able to "lift" it from the bottom. And believe me, this thing is so light weight, if a raccoon wants to get under it, it can with ease. The top has a hinge like set up which I do like. Unfortunately, you have to be careful not to let it drop closed or it will come apart. It has a very wide opening. It is higher off the ground (taller) than my old bin and will fit a whole lot more yard and kitchen waste, which works well for me since I have a very large yard. Haven't had it long enough to know how well the doors are going to work for the removal of the finished material, but I like that there are two doors (one on each side) to chose from. All in all, it's an ok product. It has it's pros and cons. I personally think it's not worth what I paid. But, like I said, I needed a new one and this one will serve it's purpose for now.
