The battery needed is included in this Replacement Remote, and you must have it calibrated to match the specific Viper system you have installed in your vehicle in order for it to work - and that must be done by a professional. My original after-market add-on Viper system was purchased and installed at Best Buy, so I took it there to have it calibrated, and there was no charge for that service. It works perfectly, is well-made and also has a "panic" button to press if I need it. I am delighted at the great price I purchased it at through Walmart, which was much less expensive than I had found elsewhere. It's a quality product.
