This is a basic heavy duty laptop designed for business. I have been using this unit for about 3 years. If you use a laptop heavily, the keyboards get trashed after a couple years. They sell new replacement keyboards on an online auction site for under $50. I had someone who has laptop skills replace the keyboard in under 5 minutes. I bought a fresh battery, which has a very long life. I wore out a hard drive and replaced it with a high capacity one that can store a ton of movies. Anyone can replace the drive in a couple minutes. Changing out the hard drive would be the only time you would ever need a backup disk, after you backed up your files. If the unit does not come with one, you probably will never need it. I bought quality antivirus subscription, and the Lenovo is basically crash proof. The system is stable and has never crashed. You can go on Lenovo computer site and update their drivers for free to your laptop so it will run smoothly always. I am running the new Windows 10 software now, and the processor is fast enough. The only problem with Windows 10 is that the software is still a little buggy now and then. If their are any negatives for this model it is weight, and heat. It is not the lightest unit by any means, and the processor develops quite a bit of heat when plugged in on the cord, and used for hours. It is not recommended that you leave the laptop sitting in your lap for several hours of use without something under it. People have been know to get a heat rash in that region, but nothing serious. When this unit came out a few years back it was expensive. Buying something cheap that will give you several years of good service is a great deal. New parts are readily available to keep these units running for many years to come. Quality of watching videos and movies is very good. For intense gaming, the unit does not come with a super fast game card.

Computer works fast, boots up well. A little different from other Win7 installs I have used before since the option to do a system restore pops up in the initial booting of the computer. I personally like this quirk in case of major problems, but people who are not computer savvy could be confused by it. I am also a fan of the total lack of bloatware (i.e. stupid Norton Antivirus, etc) on this install. The battery is really good in this computer, hardly used. I have 98% of battery function which is rare in a refurb! Graphics card is decent enough for a page of gifs to load and fully display all at once with no trouble. My only complaint is that I have three areas of broken pixels, each about 1 cm long lines. After I researched this type of problem, I came to the conclusion that Joy Systems has an allowance on what is considered an 'okay' amount of broken pixels and my computer falls within that range. Since my only problem is with a small amount of broken pixels that really don't affect my everyday use of this computer (web browsing, light word processing, and online gaming), I am satisfied enough to not bother with a return. A word of advice, refurb is refurb! Not new! You can get a great discount but it probably won't be perfect. :)
