24 In. X 24 In. Vent Cover

It's expensive for what it is. It's a piece of plastic. I bought 3 and first one I followed the instructions exactly. Took some time to install. The other 2 went faster once I figured out the first. The edges are lined with foam but since there is no adhesive and the cover is so large it does NOT sit flush with the ceiling so it's not going to block out cold or smells. I was using it to block odor from entering the vents. I had to apply duct tape to try to get some sort of seal and then I used 2 large air filtration units under the ducts. This helped block odor from entering the vents. The filter units were $1750 and made to filter much larger rooms than the one I was in. The duct tape would come loose from the pressure of the circulating air within the vents and if you tried to make a seal then you could hear the air whistling loudly from any little hole that wasn't sealed. I could not get the entire thing sealed because there were lights in the panels nearby so I could not wrap the duct tape around anything. I have to constantly/daily tape the edges when I need this product to work. By itself this is not an effective product but right now I can't see any other alternative that actually works anywhere else online. I don't see how this could block out cold any more than just buying the window plastic for sealing out drafts which isn't so great for that either but probably does a better job than this and is cheaper. NO, it doesn't work, but if you are dealing with odors you can make it work with a lot of time, effort, repeatedly taping the loosening tape and buying expensive air filtration units to sit right under the vents (like 6 inches below). And no, I didn't try just the air filtration units without the covers. I do not recommend this product for blocking drafts. You're better off using window draft plastic and it will be easier to install. For odors, yes, it can HELP do the job, but you really need to get air filtration units to sit directly under the vents and keep fixing the loose edges. There has to be a better way, but I just don't know what that is right now.
