worked well on my deck and cellar doors, gives water protection plus the benefit of some color, makes the wood looked refreshed and "happy". Purchased the clear for the wishing well - didn't like that nearly as well, will stick with the tinted product going forward

Good stain, buuut....

I really love the color and ease of spreading. I can't give 5 stars because I will say the stain definite wears off with regular usage. I have put this on my deck and steps for 2 years and before spring, the steps are pretty much bare again.

Thompson Desert Brown is not transparent

After cleaning and power washing a 7 year old redwood fence, I applied the water seal. It was easy to apply, covered well and dried quickly. Cleanup was also easy and quick with soap and water. However, I was very disappointed in the final outcome. As shown in the picture I attached, the final color did not match what Walmart shows on their website. Also, I was looking for a transparent stain, so that I could see the grain in the wood. Unfortunately, this stain IS NOT transparent. It is more like a solid stain or paint. So, if you want to see the grain, you will need to purchase another product. If you are looking for a solid stain, you will probably like the product. I returned the stain to Walmart for a refund.
