The Dog at the Gate

I really enjoyed The Dog at the Gate: How a Throw Away Dog Becomes Special. It tells the story of the life of an Australian Shepherd named Max. Max is happy living with his mom until he was taken away to live an unloved, neglected, and abused life with a family. He lives outside and finds friends with unlikely characters. When he gets into trouble, he is dropped off at a local animal shelter. Just when things could not get any worse, he is rescued and learns the true meaning of love, friendship, and loyalty. Will he finally find what he has spent his life looking for? The Dog at the Gate: How a Throw Away Dog Becomes Special is wonderful story. It brought so many emotions out of me. Readers do need to keep a tissue box handy. I found myself being brought to tears at some scenes. My heart just ached for little Max. But he was definitely a little survivor and fighter. I have to admit, I was not happy with some of the humans Max encountered in his life. I do not understand how some can be so cruel to such a beautiful, kind hearted companion. I am giving The Dog at the Gate: How a Throw Away Dog Becomes Special five plus stars. I highly recommend this book for all readers. I was excited to pass my copy on to my children's school and let other children learn the unconditional love of a canine like, Max. I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
