may break if used out in ocean

i selected the 7 foot rod version again to replace my 10 year old big water contender combo that someone used out in the ocean and broke the pole the old reel still works. this fishing pole combo is good for freshwater or light saltwater. one difference the new version has is a bigger #50 reel.

Its worth the money

I bought this combo for Panama city beach trip its lasted and won't rust. I have used it to catch Handtail, Grouper, remora in the picture below. Its a good rod and reel for the price

Reliable is an understatement

I purchased a Contender combo back in 2004 for catfish in Texas, and then used it later for pike and salmon in Colorado. After catching many fish over the past 11 years on it, this combo is the only combo I have not had to replace since purchasing it. For being a 7' MH rod, it is fairly sensitive. The reel is durable and has never locked up, the bail has never come loose, and the drag has held up. This has truly been the best fishing investment I can say I have ever made.
