Like Disgaea 1-4, but better

Games 1 to 4, not stage 1-4, as I haven't seen Mid-Boss anywhere yet. You do all the same stuff as previous titles, but with less of the unnecessary baloney (double loading to avoid game freeze notwithstanding). Items go to level 300 (Item World resets to 1 after clearing 100) and higher in the post game. Difficulty stars can be manipulated through a cheat shop rather than passing bills every time. If you've looked up the various ending conditions, the main story is pretty well paced difficulty-wise (I've only had to grind a map twice, and that was for the conditions, not the difficulty). You can ride monsters (rather than equipping them) indefinitely, or until they run out of HP. If you've played other Disgaea, you know the rest of what you're getting. If you haven't, this is a good place to start as so much of the annoying things in previous versions have been streamlined. Either way, you're looking at 40-100 hours of gameplay for the main story (depending on how many endings you want to see) and hundreds more after that.
