I have several other EHDs (Iomega 1.5T, Hitachi 3TB, a few 1TB portables) and needed more storage (so I could get organized.) I read the reviews of several EHD manufacturers and noticed some things: Aluminum case (heat dispersal); pay a little more, drive lasts much much longer. Both of mine have the case, but I love the Iomega's on/off switch better than the auto off on the Hitachi. 2) Internal soldering; several manufacturers have many complaints about this. This one had comments about a flimsy usb cord, but I guess Fantom took notice because the one I got has a USB that's the best I've had yet; substantial, nice and thick, well put together. Having just moved several TBs of files on and off it, it's a dream! I hope walmart gets them back in stock, I'll get at least one more and have some room to spare!
