I have been using Germ Guardian air purifiers for years and I see them in doctors offices too which makes me feel confident in them. I recently bought one as a gift for my daughter to help with pet hair and dander now that she has a Golden Retriever. I highly recommend this brand. I will say that one thing that confused her about this particular model is the red light. It being red makes you think it's time to change the filter because that is how most air purifiers are-green when it's good and red when it's bad. On this particular pet model the red light is always on-like a power light-and will blink when it's time to change the filter. Because I have used both Germ Guardian models for years I am familiar with it, but others may not be.

This air cleaner is the minimum level to purchase! That means do not waste money on cheaper air filtration units, you will only have to step up to this level. I plan to get another unit for the kitchen / dinning area, as we will leave this one in our bedroom. So far I can tell you two things, if you have asthma you will notice the difference and if you are always dusting things, you will see the difference .

I got this air filter for my 9 month old son's allergies. He was having major sinus problems because of pollen and some pet dander. We noticed within 2 hours a difference. He was napping well and finally able to breathe easy! The UV light isn't so bad. If you have a problem with it at night... just turn off the UV light. The air filter can work separately from the UV light. And vice versa. The highest fan setting is a bit noisy. We keep it on the setting just under high, and it's quiet with good air flow. I would recommend this to a friend, definitely.
